Riverside House
Its reputation closely identified with the city itself, the Riverside House, located on Water street, is known to a large number of people who have visited this vicinity. Its situation is ideal and it has always been managed with unusual excellence, progressiveness and courtesy, so that all who have stopped here at any time, retain a pleasant memory of its hospitality. The house contains 20 sleeping rooms, has a dining capacity of 35 and gives particular attention to commercial men, the rates being two dollars per day. Seven to ten alert assistants are employed. The house was built in 1897, and was a club house eight years, and was re-established as a hotel since February, 1908. C.L. Corthell was born in Addison, Me. and was educated there and in Machias and Dennysville. Previous to opening the hotel he conducted a market eight years. Mr. Corthell is a member of the Masons, I.O.O.F. and Grange, and is known as a business man of integrity and a genial host.
