Snowshoe Island Legend | Screen Printed Card | Micmac Indian Craftsmen, Big Cove Reserve, New BrunswickDescription
Back of Card reads: SNOWSHOE ISLAND LEGEND
Long, long ago Glooscap walked up the Saint John river on his snow shoes, in the early spring. Compressed snow tracks are always slow to melt. This was true of Gloosacp's tracks, but his were so large and firm that many of them can still be seen as Islands. Watch for them as you drive along the Saint John river. Our Indians tell many legends of Glooscap, their great god. The Micmac language was one of the most complex and has been composed with Latin, Greek and Sanskrit.
