Lubec Channel Light | Lubec, Maine | 1899 | Glass Magic Lantern Slide | R. Clinton Fuller |Description
LUBEC CHANNEL LIGHT, 1899! Glass magic slide in our collections that shows the sparkplug style lighthouse in the Lubec Channel between Lubec, Maine and Campobello Island, New Brunswick. South Lubec is in the background with a herring weir coming out from the shore on the right side of the lighthouse. Slide dates to 1899 and is titled on the slide as "Bug Light." Slide was taken by R. Clinton Fuller of the Providence Camera Club of Providence, Rhode Island. If you look closely you can see in the upper right of the slide a two masted schooner under sail. The slide is one of a large number of slides that have come into our collections that were taken by Fuller of the eastern coast of Maine and neighboring Canada in the 1880s and 1890s.
