Toni Maestri Wirts always wanted to create a bust of Father Bandini. She had heard and admired stories her grandmother, Mary Maestri, told her about Father Bandini's dedication to the people of Tontitown. Her father, Ed Maestri, helped her by gathering pictures of Fr. Bandini from older citizens of Tontitown. In 1984, while doing her post-graduate studies at Fontbonne University in St. Louis, Toni began the bust of Father Bandini. She completed the statue in clay, then cast in plaster of Paris, and last applied a patina.Category
