Description

Quilt - hand and machine made multi fabric, two panels with photos on fabric of Tontitown's original settlers in squares with hand embroidery and other lace embellishments

Context

Quilted panels (2) both hand and machine stitched of multi-colored/textured fabrics with photographs on fabric of the original Tontitown Italian families, one in the middle of each of the 20 squares per panel, the name of each family is written in cursive under each photo. Each square has X border stiches around each piece of fabric in different color threads with some other embroidery (flowers, grapes, leaves, strawberries) on each panel along with small lace adornments. Each panel has one adornment made of crochet (pink flowers and purple and green grapes). Per Kathy Pianalto Miller, quilts were hand made by her mother Helene Pianalto Newman in approx. 1998. Kathy said her mother (Helene) made the quilt mostly on her own with a little help from Kathy.
