The school bell dates back to the early 1920s. During the fire that destroyed St. mary's Academy in 1927, the bell was carried to safety and then faithfully served four generations of children in the Tontitown School. Mrs. Stolf told us there was a certain way to ring the bell that resulted in maximum volume. Holding the bell at shoulder height and ringing in short swift motions caused a louder tone to hurry the children on their way. The Tontitown School closed in 1987.
