Description

Escritoire or box for writing apparatus; maroon leather over metal; green-painted interior contains several sections; labelled flip-out glass ink bottle; flip-out wax heater; and labelled flip-out metal container for matches; lid interior has "JOHN SHELDON'S ESCRITOIR ALMANACK, for 1845" including calender and British Postal Rates, outside lid is gold-stamped "JOHN SHELDON'S PATENT ESCRITOIRE"; circa 1845.
