Lap desk; wooden; twelve brass straps at all corners and at hinges; two brass hinges; faceplate missing; interior writing surface is dark navy blue velvet; two storage compartments under each half of slanted writing surface; four compartments at top of writing surface; one compartment includes a pen trough, concave on one side; one compartment includes a glass inkwell with screw-on brass cap; full-length drawer with handle on one side; handle only on other side; interior flip-up brass supporting arm; brass socket for arm also on interior right; c. before 1812.
