Description

Travelling apothecary scale, consisting of a hooked post that slides in to a slot on the interior of the box on the back wall; and a balance with two round scale pans attached with green cords, and brass tweezers. The box is dark wood (mahogany?) , it has a compartment with a slide closure lid, which contains five (5) weights with the numbers 64, 32, 16, and 8, respectively, stamped on the top surface, and one waffer weight with three circles stamped on the top surface. The box lid and base are connected with two small hinges along the back wall, a hook and post closure machanism on the front of the box.
