Brass colonial government handmade padlock, c. 1850 with brass keyhole cover that slides up. The shackle is hinged on proper right and swings away to the right. Below the shackle's latch and hinge are marked with a crown and V.R. underneath, one on each side. Stamped underneath proper left side, written vertically is the word 'WARRANTED'. Stamped underneath proper right, written vertically is 'HANDMADE'. Stamped in the middle of the body, wirtten horizontally is 'SUPERIOR SAFTEY SECURE LEVER LOCK' which gets hiddent when the keyhold cover is slid up.Dimensions
