Description

Iron handmade railway padlock with brass keyhole and keyhole cover, with key. 'E R & Co.' stamped on keyhole cover, probably denoting the Erie Railroad Company founded in 1861. The key appears to be original and is attached by its bow to a hoop which is then attached to the shackle. The shackle swings away to proper right, but the toe of the shackle is locked. Black paint flakes still visible on the body of the padlock.
