2021.2.49Description
Twenty-eight-page PDF of a Craver family album. The Craver family helped develop the Town of Sand Lake throughout at least the late 19th through early 20th centuries and apparently intermarried with several other locally prominent families, including the Cipperly and Sliter families. The undated album displays up to several oval-shaped and large locket-sized photos per page and likely includes photos from the last third of the 19th through the early 20th centuries. A notation on the first few pages indicates that the album was initially owned by or produced for Margaret M. Craver and was gifted much later to Clara Leavenworth on August 5, 1966, by someone named John. Unfortunately, many of the photographs are unidentified. However, many others are identified. The subjects of specifically identified photographs include: George Craver, Margaret Craver, Warner Craver, Reverend Joseph Sefler (or perhaps Silfler), Mrs. Selfler, Dr. Charles Selfler, Miss Helen Selfler, John Green, Colonel Wheeler, Jacob Wheeler, Silas Wheeler, Charity Wheeler, Lavnia Goewey, Mary Wheeler Sliter, Catherine Craver Elliot, George Elliot, Nicholas Cipperly, Betsy Cippery, Sarah Margaret Taylor, Virginia Stewart, and Laney Miller. Please contact the Curator of SLHS or the Town Historian if you can help identify any of the unidentified photos. The PDF is downloadable while fully logged into the system.
