Description

Each year the Sand Lake Historical Society (SLHS) sponsors the award of typically $100 each to an Averill Park High School (APHS) graduating male and female student who have demonstrated an exception interest in historical studies and in the memory of past SLHS members. This entry notes the SLHS member memorials made and, as/if noted, student winners from 1980 through 1989 as well as includes photos of the APHS Commencement Ceremony Programs for most of those years. These artifacts are stored in a SLHS Scholarship Program folder that can be found in Drawer 1 of SLHS File Cabinet 2 located on the second floor of Town Hall. The awards continued through present, but similar records are not readily available.
