2021.2.42Scope and Content
Thirty-one-page PDF of citizenship papers and miscellaneous election expenses, political party primary/convention candidate nomination results, election results, and successful candidate oaths of office. The remaining and majority of the 247 available pages in the ledger are unused and completely blank. Refer to the stamped page numbering for an idea of the distribution of the entries in the ledger.
Specifically, the citizenship papers appear in the first five pages of the PDF and formally certify that the following twelve Sand Lake residents had applied for citizenship via Rensselaer County between 1896 and 1901: August Wehnau, John Middleton, Robert Snyder, Christian Gentner, Gotleb Engle, Frederick Suppes, Charles Wehnau, Christian Schneider, Gotleb Angle, William Bennsteel, Edward Angle, and Robert Angle. The entries also note the applicant's age, occupation, residence, and entry date per the examples provided below.
The election and voting records begin on page 51 of the ledger and continue through page 101 of the ledger. Pages 51 through 83 primarily relate to election expenses, results, and oaths of office covering the time period 1901 to 1913. Pages 84 through 101 record the Town primary/convention results for nominating the Democratic, Republican, and Prohibition party candidates for Town offices during the 1915, 1917, and 1919 elections.
The PDF is downloadable while fully logged into the system. Refer to the two example pages for a preview of its content. A much higher resolution PDF is stored off-line and available upon request under the file name:
