Description

Thursday, June 13, 1968, Troy Record newspaper article describing how local skin divers Gareth M. Osgood and Stephen J. Palka discovered and raised what might have been a 25 foot long Native American dugout war canoe from the bottom of Glass Lake. The story notes that famed NYS Archaeologists Willian A. Richie and Robert E. Funk planned to visit Sand Lake to confirm the finding given the amount of Native American activity in the area. Unfortunately, neither the results of the visit nor disposition of the canoe are noted in the "Glass Lake History" folder in which the article was found.
