Two-page PDF of a 1956 Troy Record newspaper article and research notes by Town Historian Madolyn Carpenter regarding the William Butts (and Gideon Butts) house that once stood on the site of the current Cumberland Farms store located at the intersection of Routes 43 and 66 in Sand Lake. William Butts was a Revolutionary War veteran and the Butts family was deeply involved in the Taborton lumbering and charcoal making industries. Original photocopies are located in the Taborton and Local Hotels Binder in SLHS-FC1-D2. Downloadable while fully logged into the system.
