2021.3.97Scope and Content
Service notations of the Second Regiment of the NY National Guard which established a large military camp named Camp Hardin in the Town of Sand Lake near Crystal Lake in anticipation of deploying in support of the Spanish American War. The Regiment never deployed overseas or engage in combat but did suffer non-combat casualties from disease and training mishaps during its travels between several deployment sites in the United States and included local veterans. The Hart Cluett Museum in Troy, NY, offers the best collection of the Regiment's history and artifacts per the included print to PDF and reference from its website. SLHS General Articles Binder Number 1 also includes photocopies of numerous newspaper articles, maps, and histories that were likely extracted from the Hart Cluett collection.Acquisition
