2021.2.1Description
Theodore Roosevelt, along with much of his family, visited Sand Lake in 1899 and frequently noted his fondness for the area and its residents. SLHS sponsored a Roosevelt reenactor 2015 to help commemorate the visit. This entry includes:
- Photos of the original signed photographs of Theodore Roosevelt and the First Lady that hang in the Supervisor's Office of the Town of Sand Lake;
- High-resolution copies and enlarged prints of those photographs that the Town Historian had produced in 2022;
- A copy of the April 29, 1899, Crooked Lake Hotel guest registry documenting a stay at the hotel by the Roosevelt family, and;
- Posters and fundraising auction items produced by the Sand Lake Historical Society to advertise its hosting of a presentation of a performance by a renowned Theodore Roosevelt reenactor at the Crooked Lake House in April of 2015.
