Description

Town of Sand Lake (TOSL) related portion of an 1880 publication entitled the History of Rensselaer Co., New York, by Nathaniel Bartlett Sylvester. Provides an excellent early history of the TOSL. SLHS once sold this excerpt for $1 per copy in the mid-1970s. Several copies of the excerpt remain in Drawer 1 of SLHS File Cabinet 2 on the 2nd Floor of Town Hall. Refer to the weblinks section of this entry for the full over 500-page text of the Slyvester history. Page 526 of the full text under the heading of, "IX. - Noteworthy incidents," first notes that former NYS Governor William L. Marcy once taught in Sand Lake.
