Scope and Content

Oral history, provided by the son of Sand Lake tinsmith Clarence Bame, regarding the relocation of his father's tin shop from near the current Hannaford Supermarket in West Sand Lake to the recreation of a historic village and educational center named Eastfield Village in East Nassau, NY. The shop was nearly demolished to allow for construction of a parking lot before old building historian Don Carpentier arranged for its relocation. Per the Village's Internet site as of May, 2021, the shop apparently still remains at Eastfield Village under the name of the 1820 Clapper Tin Shop.
