Scope and Content

Two documents noting the existence of a, "West Sand Lake Driving Association," as early as 1898 and a formal agreement that bicycles could use the outer lane of the Younghan's Racetrack that was once located near the current Miller Elementary School in Sand Lake, NY, given a payment of fifty cents per year. The 1898 meeting notes and written agreement displayed in this entry were discovered on the first page of and within the, "1898-1945 Thomas, Furguson & Higgins Farm Ledger & Leases" entry in this folder. It's uncertain whether the Driving Association was concerned with, "horseless carriages," as well as bicycles.
