1950's black bathing suitContext
The vintage black bathing suit is an apron style swimsuit with a halter style removable strap. The material, possibly Lastex or nylon which were popular during this era, has a raised pattern. There is a slight sheen to the material. There is ruching in the center of the bathing suit from top to bottom the width of the ruched area expanding as it extends to the leg openings. There is a decorative trim sewn along the upper edge of the suit. There is a zipper opening on the back of the suit from approximately the waist of the garment up with a hidden button closure at the top. There is light lining around the bust area of the garment.
The body of the garment excluding the halter strap is approximately 24", with the halter adding approximately 8".Acquisition
