The Avalon Hotel & Soda Fountain can be seen on a 1933 Wasaga Beach map, located on the beachfront east of Bay Street (now 22nd Street). Signs on and around the building show groceries, tobacco, accommodation, soda fountain, candy, meals, sandwiches, soft drinks and Kuntz's Belfast Dry Gingerale, and curb service available. The two-storey building has a large verandah covered by awnings and exterior stairs to the second level.
The photos contained in the Garvey collection were photographed and developed by Frank Garvey, Maple Leaf Film Service. Frank arrived in Wasaga Beach in 1929 and opened his photography business operating from two tents on the beachfront. In 2000, the collection was donated to the Archives by Judy Garvey.Acquisition
