Context
From information contained in the album:
“Baywood Public School was originally called S.S. #20A, Twp of Nottawasaga. It was located on the east side of what is now called Fairgrounds Road, next to the old Collingwood Drive-In. It was a standard 2 classroom public school. When Baywood Public School was closed in 1971, students were sent to Byrnes Avenue School and Byng Elementary School in Stayner. The property was subsequently purchased by the Manito Shriners’ Club and the building still exists today.”
“Silvercrest Public School was originally a Flos Township School but included many Wasaga Beach students. It was located on the south end of Zoo Park Road and closed in 1972. The property was then purchased and operated by the Wasaga Beach Christian School until the 1990’s. The Christian School subsequently purchased Byrnes Avenue School, and the original Silvercrest property was sold to the Wasaga Beach United Church.”
