Context

The Bee Hive was located on Beach Drive between the Dardanella and Main Street (Balsam Street) and beside the Hiawatha Inn. The location is noted on a 1933 Wasaga Beach Chamber of Commerce map. The original photograph is labelled "Bee- Hive Restaurant". The location on the map is labeled "Bee-Hive Shop". A small sign visible beside the larger "Bee-Hive" sign on the building reads: "Make a Wish Tea Room", Cup Reading". The photos contained in the Garvey collection were photographed and developed by Frank Garvey, Maple Leaf Film Service. Frank arrived in Wasaga Beach in 1929 and opened his photography business operating from two tents on the beachfront. In 2000, the collection was donated to the Archives by Judy Garvey.
