Context

Birch Haven Cabins and Lodge, owned by Frank and Sadie Reeves, were located at 35 Mosley St., on the north shore of the Nottawasaga River, at the entrance to Nancy Island. Situated in a grove of birch trees, cabins surrounded the lodge where the lounge, kitchen, dining room and main office were located. Dry mounting photographs was a method of permanently mounting photographs to a backing for display using tacking tissue and a heat press circa 1930's to 1960's. Cutting a matte for framing is an alternative to this method.
