From information contained in school albums:
Byrnes Avenue School was constructed as a two-room school by the Nottawasaga Township School Board in 1940 and contained Grades 1-6. It was named Byrnes Avenue School due to its location on Byrnes Avenue (now Mosley Street). From 1954-60, students from both Buckingham and Fisher Public Schools began attending Byrnes Avenue School. Students from Baywood Public School were added when that school was closed in 1971. An addition was built after 1963, and in later years, portables were added, as well as the “Bubble” gymnasium. Byrnes was twinned with Oxbow Park School from 1974-78, then later permanently twinned when Oxbow Park was renamed Worsley Elementary School. The School was closed in 1994 and subsequently purchased by the Wasaga Beach Christian School.Acquisition
