Description

Hand painted souvenir porcelain plate "Wasaga Beach Canada", by Eleanor Bavaria, circa 1918-1929

Context

The 6" porcelain hand painted souvenir plate with landscape and windmill and "Souvenir of Wasaga Beach Canada" written in gold letters, has the "Eleanor Bavaria" mark on the back of the plate. Eleanor is the name of a vintage porcelain pattern, often featuring floral designs, particularly roses, on a white porcelain background, produced in Bavaria, Germany by the Schumann porcelain factory. The "Eleanor Bavaria" mark is associated with pieces imported by an American company, circa 1918 and 1930. Other Schumann marks are sometimes present with the "Eleonor Bavaria" mark.
