Context

The HMCS Wasaga (pennant J162) was a Bangor-class minesweeper built for the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War. Put into service in 1941, the minesweeper took part in the Battle of the Atlantic and the invasion of Normandy. After the war ended, the vessel was sold in 1946 and broken up for scrap in 1947. The HMCS Wasaga is the namesake ship of Wasaga Beach, Ontario. Chief Stoker Donald Alexander Conron served in the Royal Canadian Navy on the HMCS Wasaga during World War II, where he was recognized for his contributions to the ship's operations. In the group photo, the photograph of Chief Stoker Donald Alexander Conron is circled.
