Replica model of the H.M.S. Nancy on a wooden pedestal baseContext
The H.M.S. Nancy was built at Windsor, Ontario in 1789 as a fur-trading vessel. The schooner was first employed for the North West Company. When the Americans declared war on Britain and the War of 1812 began, the British Navy requisitioned the vessel for duty. On August 14, 1814, the Nancy burned and sank during an attack by the United States Navy in the Nottawasaga River, Wasaga Beach.
The model is a painted wood replica of the H.M.S. Nancy mounted on a double pedestal wooden base. There are three masts and sails with a British flag attached to the sail at the stern of the ship.Acquisition
