Context

As documented on the note attached to the photo album: "The Holiday Knoll Lodge was located on the beach at 12th Street. From 1945 to 1957, it was owned by Mr. and Mrs. Newman. Mr. Newman, commonly know as "Red" was very well known in the area as a singer in the The Dumbells, a male quartet. There were recordings made of this group which are sometimes still heard on CBC Radio. Meanwhile, Mrs. Newman was reknowned for her excellent pies which were served in the lodge and sold to others in the area. Mr. Newman died in 1975. Mr. and Mrs. Thordale puchased Holiday Knoll Lodge in 1957and restored it. Mrs. Thordale successfully owned and managed the property from 1959 to 1975 when the province acquired the property for the Wasaga Beach Provincial Park. Mrs. Thordale also purchased the adjacent Vale Lodge and operated it in conjunciton with Holdiay Knowll Lodge. The Thordales have many happy memories of hosting summer visitors from all over Canada and the U.S."
