Civil Service Note Book

Context

The cover of the notebook is heavy textured leatherette gold colour paper. The front cover is in fair condition, and the back is in poor condition with both corners torn off and worn with use and age. The edges of pages within the book are shiny gold with many corners of pages folded over. The fold is progressively more from beginning of book to the back of book. The book contains lists of personal expenses, various notes and poems. Handwritten on the inside cover of the book is: "James B. Adamson, Stayner, Ontario, April 5th, 1919". James B. Adamson (Jimmy) and Muriel Adamson owned Elm Park Cottages located at the corner of Zoo Park Road and River Road West, Wasaga Beach. The cottage court had 4 cottages in total. The original log cottage which still contained original beams was later refinished in stucco and was destroyed by fire a few years ago. The house located at 637 River Road West, which sat in front of the original cottage and which also was destroyed by fire in the past few years, was also part of the cottage court but was renovated to be a larger home. Jimmy also operated the first garbage collection in Wasaga Beach. Jimmy passed away in 1962. Jimmy and Muriel Adamson had 6 children, Dorothy, Evelyn, Eric, Ruth, Bernard and Donald. Donald Adamson married Diane (Geddes) More Adamson. (Diane's first husband was More). Donald passed away in 2009 and Diane passed away in 2023. Deanna Adamson is granddaughter of Jim and Muriel Adamson and daughter of Diane and Donald Adamson.
