The featured photographs show damage after Hurricane Hazel in 1954 at Lakeshore Cabins .
From information gathered, it is thought that Lakeshore Cabins were originally built on Lake Nipissing not far from Callander, Ontario. The cabins were built to help accommodate the crowds that came to that area to observe the Dionne quintuplets who were born in 1934. A gentleman named Harry Forester moved the cabins to Wasaga Beach in the 1940’s, after the crowds had dissipated in Callander. Bob and Molly Hines owned Lakeshore Cabins and Cottages after the Forester’s until they sold to the Department of Lands and Forests, now known as the Ministry of Natural Resources. Alan Edwards’ parents, Ella and Neil Edwards, and grandparents, Jean and Reford Whiteside, lived immediately south of Lakeshore Cabins. Their property is now identified as 420 and 424 Mosley Street. Just west of 424 Mosley Street, there is an open lot which was once the entrance to Lakeshore Cabins. Some time in the 1970’s, the land adjacent to Mosley Street was severed off and sold. A Catholic Church was constructed and operated for a few years. The church was removed, and the land was then vacant. A major file occurred in 1967 which destroyed the main building and many of the Lakeshore Cabins/Cottages. Reford Whiteside purchased one of the cabins that was not badly damaged and used it for storage. The storage cabin was still there when Ella Edwards sold the property in 2017 but is not there now.Acquisition
