Lightning's Ice Sign - double sided indicating 25 lbs and 50 lbsContext
Businesses cut ice blocks from area waterways in the winter to sell to locals and tourists to keep their food cold as refrigerators were not common then. Ice signs were used by customers when they needed ice. A "25 lbs" sign would be displayed in the window when a customer wanted a 25 pound block of ice delivered and a "50 lbs" sign would be displayed in the window when a customer wanted a 50 pound block of ice delivered. The sign indicates "Natural and Artificial Ice" and also "Stove Wood" available and instructions to "Please place this card where it can be seen from the street". "Stayner" is noted on the sign, however, the location of the business is unknown.Acquisition
