The photo shows Martin Highway, circa 1930, later known as Highway 92 and eventually Main Street. Main Street extended from the Main Street Bridge north west to the beachfront. Businesses were located on both sides of Main Street. Vehicles parked on both sides of the street and drove along Main Street onto the beachfront until 1973 when cars were no longer allowed to drive on the beach. Main Street then became a walking promenade and road access to Beach Drive (the beachfront) was rerouted slightly west behind the Main Street buildings to what is now known as Spruce Street.Acquisition
