Mary Watson, Archivist
Mary Watson was a long-time resident of Wasaga Beach. Mary worked for the Town of Wasaga Beach for 30 years. After retirement, Mary was appointed Town Archivist. Mary filled this role from 2008 until her passing in 2023. During her time as Archivist, Mary saved and organized articles featuring people and events in Wasaga Beach. She digitized postcards, photos, and booklets and created a comprehensive collection from the Wasaga Beach Schools. For several years Mary shared stories from the past in the Wasaga Sun in her column, From the Archives. She published a book called Sharing Memories: Stories of Wasaga's Past, a collection of memories and pictures.
Mary was involved in the Wasaga Community Theatre, the Rotary Club of Wasaga Beach, and the Wasaga Beach Kinettes. Mary received the Paul Harris Fellowship Award for her work in the Rotary and the Order of Wasaga Beach. Mary was also on the Board of Directors for Friends of Nancy Island.
