The photo looks across the Nottawasaga River, Wasaga Beach, Ontario where the island formed around the submerged hull of the HMS Nancy. The HMS Nancy was built at Windsor, Ontario in 1789 as a fur-trading vessel. When the Americans declared war on Britain and the War of 1812 began, the British Navy requisitioned the vessel for duty. On August 14, 1814, the ship burned and sank during an attack by the United States Navy in the Nottawasaga River, at Wasaga Beach. The hull was raised in 1928. The building was constructed over it for protection. The location is known as Nancy Island Historic Site.
The photo with white border, is on approximately 1mm thick, slightly textured paper.
The reverse side of post card is mostly covered by residual glue and black construction type paper indicating it may have been removed from a photo album page. The top right corner of the post card is torn off with slight bends in the postcard.Acquisition
