Context

Pickwick Cabins were one of the first cottage courts on the beachfront and were located at the bottom of 32nd Street North on the beach where Beach Area 5 is now located. Pickwick Cabins was established in 1929 by Mr. & Mrs. Cauthers. The family resort had eight cabins, a dining hall and "Pickwick Playhouse", a cabin for guests to gather at if it rained. More cabins were added as the business grew. Along with accommodations, Pickwick Cabins also offered breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.
