Context

The pen and ink sketch of Pickwick Cabins was sketched by Jan Potopnyk, artist and entrepreneur from Wasaga Beach, from a photo by Elsie McEachern taken in 1930. Pickwick Cabins were one of the first cottage courts on the beachfront and were located at the bottom of 32nd Street North on the beach where Beach Area 5 is now located. Pickwick Cabins was established in 1929 by Mr. & Mrs. Cauthers. The family resort had eight cabins, a dining hall and "Pickwick Playhouse", a cabin for guests to gather at if it rained. More cabins were added as the business grew.
