The Rustic Inn was located on Oakview Beach, Wasaga Beach, Ontario near what is now 22nd Street. The inn provided modern conveniences for the period, with individual rooms that could sleep a small family and indoor plumbing. The dining room, which was also used for entertainment and dancing, was called the Arabian Room and had a mural painting covering all of the upper part of the walls and a coffered ceiling. In front of the Inn was the Rustic Toboggan Slide. Tourists could slide down the slide and land in the water, a short distance from shore. The name of the Rustic Inn eventually changed to the Rustic Hotel.
The photos contained in the Garvey collection were photographed and developed by Frank Garvey, Maple Leaf Film Service. Frank arrived in Wasaga Beach in 1929 and opened his photography business operating from two tents on the beachfront. In 2000, the collection was donated to the Archives by Judy Garvey.Acquisition
