Stamp from Gough Landing, former Eberhardt propertyContext
The Eberhardt family lived at 891 River Road West, at the corner of River Road West and Beck Street where Gough’s Landing is now located. There was a large barn behind the Eberhardt house where ice blocks were stored; covered with sawdust and woodchips. Ice blocks were cut from Marl Lake and Nottawasaga Bay in the winter to sell to locals and tourists to keep their food cold as refrigerators were not common then. Ivan Eberhardt was also a fisherman and sold fish as well as ice from the location. Builder and developer Gord Gough, converted the former Eberhardt property into a 22-unit apartment complex, known as Gough's Landing, incorporating part of the original Eberhardt barn and home into the complex when it was built in 1987-1988.Acquisition
