Context

School textbook, "The Ontario Readers Third Reader Authorized by The Minister of Education". The "Ontario Education Department" emblem is printed on the cover along with the notation, "Price 35 Cents" as well as a decorative border top and bottom. Written in ink in cursive writing on the inside of the front cover reads" Emma Gertrude Noxon, 8 years old, 1899". The name "Cecil Knuff" is also handwritten in blue ink on the inside of the front cover. Printed on the first page of the reader is: "Authorized For Use in the Public Schools of Ontario by the Minister of Education" and "Toronto: Canada Publishing Company (Limited). 1885." The book contains stories, poetry and word exercises to be completed by students.
