The Slipper, also known as the "Strathcona, Silver Slipper, Huronia and New Strath, was a roller-skating rink and a dance hall. It was located on the beachfront at 10th Street, just across from the Catholic Church. The Hiawatha Inn was on the other side.
In the black and white photo, vintage vehicles are parked on the beach at the front of the building. "The SLIPPER" is painted in large letters on the roof. There is also a sign "The SLIPPER" standing upright on the peak of the roof. "DANCING" is in large letters in three locations on the building, on the front and side of the building. A sign to the left of the front entrance advertises "LUNCHES".
