During the wartime years 1939 to 1945, the Toronto Star published many colorful and amusing covers on its news magazine, Star Weekly, in an attempt to boost morale.
The cover of July 5, 1941, shows a man in uniform holding a model airplane and a boy painting the model. There are cans of paint, a paintbrush, and drawings shown. The man's hat is also shown with a picture of an aircraft labelled "HURRICANE" FIGHTER on the wall.
