During the wartime years 1939 to 1945, the Toronto Star published many colorful and amusing covers on its news magazine, Star Weekly, in an attempt to boost morale.
The color cover of May 2, 1942, shows a soldier holding a gun over his shoulder while leaning against an airplane plane with the number 904 visible. An airplane is also flying in the background. On the bottom left corner, an inset reads CANADIAN AIR GUNNER.
STAR WEEKLY TORONTO MAY 2, 1942 10 CENTS are printed across the top of the cover.
The artist's signature, Donald Anderson R.C.A.F., is printed on the bottom right corner of the cover.
