During the wartime years of 1939 to 1945, the Toronto Star published many colorful and amusing covers on its news magazine, Star Weekly, in an attempt to boost morale.
The cover of November 27, 1943, shows a pilot holding up a card that says "IT'S A BOY!" and an envelope from mail received. Another individual is holding a box labelled "SQUADRON MAIL" . There are several envelopes in the box. There front of an aircraft showing the propeller is visible in the background of the picture.
STAR WEEKLY TORONTO NOVEMBER 27, 1943 10 CENTS are printed across the top of the cover.
The artist's signature, thought to be Emmett Watson, is printed on the bottom right corner of the cover.Acquisition
