Context

The first main road in Wasaga Beach was the beachfront. The first wooden bridge, built in 1872, and later the Main Street bridge built in 1909, provided easy passage by vehicles over the Nottawasaga River and onto the beachfront. In the picture captioned "Wasaga Beach -c.1925", vintage vehicles are parked and driving along the beachfront with people and buildings in the background. In 1973, mostly due to safety concerns, vehicles driving on the beach ended. The picture captioned, "Hot Dog Stand at Kirkland Kabins -1945" has patrons at a hotdog stand and a vintage automobile at Kirkland Kabins which was located on the south east corner of the intersection of Beck Street and River Road East.
