Context

The event Wasaga Under Siege was held to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the sinking of the HMS Nancy and educate the public about the importance of the battle of Nottawasaga Bay during the War of 1812. The four day heritage festival included over 500 historical re-enactors portraying British, American, and Indigenous participants of the War of 1812 with battle re-enactments, demonstrations of period weaponry, and historical displays. Wasaga Under Siege became an annual event.
