These samples came from Arjruk printers in Bhuj in 1974. They include a set of “old” designs that are no longer made that were for the export trade. The other samples were being made at the time. Today Arjruk printers are very few and far between. The work is labor intensive and since the earthquake in 2000 machine printed fabrics have largely replaced the handwoven, hand printed traditional materials.Currently there is an exhibition at LLDC of 3 or 4 generations of a family of Arjruk printers. They are have a festival to celebrate the family with lectures and presentations.Acquisition
