Description

Indigo-dyed and over-dyed woman’s festival jacket. The front and back are batiked in circular and floral motifs. The sleeves, which are often made separately or at an other time, have been embroidered with several techniques: counted thread, chain stitch, and small circular motifs. The sleeve cuffs have a fine, batiked geometric design. Gejia people are considered as a distinct minority group of as a Miao sub group.
